“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Mahatma Gandhi
I chose the name Hunting Down History because I like to hunt! When researching my own lines I am persistent, often pursuing my ancestors into the wee hours of the night and to the ends of the earth.
Of course, this is not always practical or affordable, so when you choose me to help you I tailor my hunting to best serve your wants, desires and of course, your budget!
I began by researching my husband’s family in Michigan and Southern Illinois, but I have since searched for people all over!
Death Notices and Obituaries
- Scanned from original sources whenever possible.
Birth, Marriage and Death Records
- Official certificates whenever possible, or scanned from original sources.
Cemetery and Headstone Photographs
- I love to go exploring and will happily travel to cemeteries near and far to find and photograph headstones, and include additional photographs of the surroundings that provide a sense of “Being There.”
- Besides the paper records that you keep at home, you can create online memorials for your ancestors at sites such as Find a Grave www.findagrave.com I set up the memorial and include vital information, including headstone and other photographs, and then transfer “ownership” of memorials to you.
